Practical: Customising your Substack Publication Settings
Laying the foundations - This is where your world becomes real
This is the moment.
We’ve done the thinking, the naming, the writing, the visual prep. You have everything you need to get started, and now we’re actually going in.
In this screen share (and in the following few posts), I’m walking you through populating the back end of your Substack publication.
The settings, the details, the copy, the welcome email — all of it going into the places it belongs, so that when someone lands on your page for the first time, they arrive somewhere that actually feels like you built it.
This is the foundation work. Unglamorous, maybe. But nothing that comes after it is possible without it. You cannot build on air.
So these are the screen shares to pause and work alongside.
Go at your own pace. Stop the video, make the change, press play again. There’s no rush. By the end of the next few posts, your Substack will have its bones in place.
Have everything open and ready:
Your Substack Writing Desk file (or wherever you have gathered your copy)
Your logo files
Let’s go in.
Pull up your Substack dashboard, open the screen share, and let’s get it done.
We’re building.
