Exercise: Creating your anchor post
Building your legacy body of work with an anchor post.
In this post, I want to introduce you to something that might help you build your body of work: The Anchor Post.
An anchor post is a single living post that acts as part of the root system of your Substack world. Think of it as a map that grows with you — one post that links out to the posts you create, organised in a way that helps a new reader navigate your world and find what’s most relevant to them.
The Starter Path and The Brand Foundations Path are good examples of an anchor post.
You add to it as you go. Every time you publish something significant, you come back and thread it in. Over time it becomes one of the most useful things on your Substack, especially for new subscribers who arrive later and want to understand the whole of what you’re building.
Here is a short screenshare explaining a little more and explaining how to pin your anchor post to your publication so that it is always easy for people to find.
As I say in the video, this may be some way down the line for you if you are just getting started with posting your first articles, so please don’t feel overwhelmed.
My invitation here is just to think about creating this early.
